Institute for Coastal and Marine Research
The CMR has a strong legacy in sandy beach research, largely pioneered by Prof. Anton McLachlan when the Institute (then the Institute for Coastal Research) was established in the early 1980s. Investigations in the past and today range from biogeochemistry, phytoplankton and macrofaunal studies, to population connectivity, species taxonomy, and conservation and management research. We work in the surf zone, on the intertidal shores, and into the dunes.
